Closed-plate equipment belongs in this family when diatomite is the filtration aid and cloth or membrane consumables are not used. This avoids false overlap with conventional plate filtration.
Engineering selection system
Start with clarity target and filter-aid practice.
This family uses diatomaceous earth to build the filtration layer. It is therefore selected by precoat/body-feed behaviour and cake management—not by cloth or membrane specifications.
Define clarification duty
Record feed turbidity, suspended solids, desired clarity and whether product recovery or visual polish is the priority.
Define filter-aid method
Confirm diatomite grade, precoat quantity, body-feed practice and how spent aid will be handled.
Define the batch
Provide batch volume or continuous flow, cycle time, allowable pressure rise and expected cake loading.
Define cleaning and containment
Set material, enclosure, drainage, internal access and cleaning requirements around the product and plant.
